Edge profiles are cut by CNC and then finished by hand. During the firing cycle, the enamel becomes semi-liquid and the surface tension changes the thickness of the glaze near the edges. The resultant lighter and darker variations at the edges on the more translucent colours is one of the signature characteristics of glazed lava.
